Fantastic Five- Loud Typography

Loud Typography is a method used by advertisers, or anyone really who wants to get someone's attention through a non verbal manner.



Here we have a poster, or image, that relays a message to anyone who reads it. The message is intended to give people, who may have doubt, hope that things will get better. This message grabs people's attention by using large font and a unique look and color.

Here we have a picture that is advertising fresh fish at a restaurant called the "Red Canoe". This image uses a large style of font, but also uses an eye catching image of fish to grab a persons attention as they might be passing by it.

This is an image that uses words to create a shape of a person sitting as he appears to be thinking. The words written on this individual might be what he/she might be thinking, but the words are also there to make the reader of the image think as well. The creator of this image was aiming at inspiring people with the words he displays on the character.

Team GER: Swashes on Caps

Swashes on caps are defined as a way to add a flourish to uppercase letters in an exaggerated way. This type of letter design has been used since the end of the 19th century.


Swashes on caps can be used to create emphasis and catch the eyes and attention of the audience.

According to 100 Ideas That Changed Graphic Design, Primitive Figuration is the simplification of forms such as heads, bodies, arms, legs and even facial features. Everything in the pieces are reduced to more abstract shapes, resulting in more raw, gestural and interpretive works.

This image "The Maasai" is a very good example of Primitive Figuration because even though there are no facial features or really any features at all you can still get a general idea that this is a tribe of some sort gathering. The picture itself has unity and an amazing use of colour, which you can focus on since you don't have to pay attention to minute detail.

Though there are facial features in this particular piece, it is still very minimal and because of that you can 

focus instead on what the piece is made of and the process of how the art was created through brush 

strokes.

In this one, even the shading and value is primitive. In that only dark relief lines are used. But you can focus on the subject of the piece, the figures dancing in masks with exaggerated facial expressions.

Definition- something cut out from something from something else, as a pattern or figure cut out or intended to be cut out of paper, cardboard, or other materials



This is a paper cut out of people holding hands. This is a symbol of coming together as a group. This is a simple cutout by folding a piece of paper up and then cutting out one person. By unfolding the paper it will then form many different people.

This picture is a castle made out of paper. The castle has great detail to it and had to be thought out very well for it to look as good as it does. In order for the castle to be 3D the paper had to be cut out from many different spots on the paper making them able to connect.
