Humor Appeal:

This advertisement is showing that fresh step cat litter is the better litter to get if you don’t want to smell your litter box in the house. This advertisement defiantly catches the viewer’s eye. This advertisement is in hope that Cover Girl will become the most popular bran of makeup because it is always in competition.

Team Kryptonite- Ad Appeals

Play on Words

Our example of play on words is the peanut butter brand 'Skippy'. In this advertisement, the brands label is used in a sentence to make it stick out and also add a little humor.

Sex Appeal

In this foreign advertisement for 'Axe' in Portugal, it uses sex appeal to draw people in on buying the product. The translation for the words mean "The Axe Effect."

Scarcity Appeal

This advertisement for Starbucks intrigues people in going to buy a drink in order to get another for free. But it's "limited time only" which would make customers want to go before the time runs out.

Rational Appeal

This advertisement shows rational appeal because it involves facts and figures on the car thats intended on being sold. It also makes it seem like this car is far better than other cars.

Music Appeal

The commercial above is the Doublemint ad using Chris Brown's song 'Forever'. This ad uses music and dancing to show the product. Also, involves a famous personnel to be featured in the ad.

Sustainable Packaging- Team 1

Sustainable Packaging

Sustainable packaging is a way of packaging. the packaging is different then the normal packaging. they remade and rethought of different ways packaging could be easyier and less waste. This is a good idea because less waste is for the best. the products are mostly ones that are the best for the environment and packing with different designs.

This pictures shows sustainable packagin because instead of just a normal box to send your shirt. the box can be turned into a hanger so that you can hang your shirt up with out just wasteing thecardboard box.

This example is a carrier for the eggs but it also is biodegradable. that means you can but it in the ground or even on top and it will disintegrate in the ground

White space by Team Ice

Alexey Brodovitch was one of the first magazine directors to realize that white space could be used in a way to have a huge impact on a piece of art. His 1950's magazine named Harper's Bazaar shows how formally known as "Negative Space" could transform and have a huge impact on the layout of a magazine.

White space is a way to show elitist and attitude. It is a style that helps frame art in a way that shows you have no boundaries or limits. Many magazines use this style to show a proper more clean layout.

Branding Campaigns by Pandora

A company's image goes beyond its products.

Graphic design does not always serve lofty ideals. The "Great Ideas of Western Man" campaign was an indoctrination program to convince American manufacturers that packaging was their most persuasive sales tool. A breakthrough in terms of marketing strategy, it demonstrated that promoting the image of a company rather than its products or services is sometimes the smartest business decision.

The "I'm a PC" campaign was to show that PC isn't just a product. PC is a part of people and the people who own PCs are the company.

Budweiser uses the tagline "The King of Beers." This line is give people the impression that Budweiser is better than all the other beers out there and reigns over them.
Chanel Flyers: Public Service Campaigns

Public Service Campaigns

Originally the Ad Council founded in 1941, was established to support war propaganda. They created such icons as "Rosie the Riveter". But as the time changed so did the Ad campaigns. A few years back international advertising companies collaborated to help support climate control in Copenhagen. As of most recently the new public service campaigns are being sponsored by charitable organizations from all around the world.

ImaginGraphic : Brand Narratives

Brand Narratives

A brand narrative means that you make the brand bigger than the product itself.

For example, during the 1950's Philip Morris decides to change the gender part on the Marlboro ad in order to attract and appeal more male audience instead of being "feminine". They use a cowboy because that represents the "American Frontier."

Also Google morphs and shapes their brand in order to attract more advertisers, people, and bloggers a like in order to keep going. They change their logos on the holidays and even events if possible.

Chanel Flyers Advertisment Project

Humor Appeal

In print adds and commercial advertisement humor appeal is the ability to get the point across, but having the add being funny and amusing at the same time.

http://youtu.be/4d8ZDSyFS2g

Fear Appeal

This advertisement is an example of Fear Advertisement because it shows you things that could potentially harm or kill you if you don’t wear a seat belt. The commercial is trying to scare or put fear into the audience. This is also a foreign advertisement.

Social Appeal
This ad is meant for the millions of people who smoke every day.  This ad uses a cigarette as a metaphor to show that the more you smoke the chances that you will live a long healthy life decrease. The ad is a social appeal because it informs the public about a social issue or influences their behavior.

Personal Appeal is a type of advertisement or add that gives you the sense of being an individual, focusing on one person instead of a whole group of people. These two print adds portray this because you can see how it's one on one involvement and is talking about just one person, you .
Endorsement Appeal  Our example of endorsement appeal is a Covergirl ad. It's a very popular celebrity who is trying to sell or 'endorse' a product to millions of women and teens around the world.

Team Krytonite: Design Thinking

Alex Faickney Osborn, a leading Ad man in the mid-1950's, published a book on brainstorming called Applied Imagination. The contents of the book described how to generate more productive design ideas by harnessing the imagination of a group of professionals. Designing in teams today, not by committee is still a challenge, even though new names such as design thinking, concept design, or integrated design strategy show a new approach.

The Power of Your Mind (1952), cover of a booklet by Alex F. Osborn, an advertising executive who is considered the inventor of the brainstorming technique.

Team Awesome, The Grid

Grid structures arguably date back millennia to narrative inscriptions in Egypt. In the twentieth century, grids were found on everyday printed matter, including invoices, ledgers, and other materials used for tabulation.

The grid, like any other instrument in the design process, is not an absolute. It should be used with flexibility, and when necessary it should be modified or abandoned completely for a more workable solution.
