Metaphoric Lettering
Using different font styles and metaphoric letters help add dimensions to a page or an advisement etc.
Visual puns are used to enliven the printed word and add dimension to a page. Also incorporating part of the business in the spelling in the name. For example incorporating chopsticks into a Chinese restaurant name. This started around the 1840s, when the term rustic was founded by Vincent Figgins who also began cutting Tuscan letter forms around 1815. Novelty type faces were at their commercial apex during the mid to late 19th century and again throughout the 20th century.
