Pastiche is a work of art, literature, film, music, or a chetecture that imitates the work of previous art. It celebrates it, not mocks it. An example of this would be the the first Star Wars film. It considered pastiche because the material is being taken from the 1930's science fiction of Flash Gordan and Buck Rodgers. An example of music would be the Star Wars Episode IV because in the cantina scene, it represented music of Jazz bands.

Pointing Fingers - Team Kryptonite

Pointing fingers were originally intended to indicate direction. Some cultures believe that this could be rude or offensive.

In the early 1900's, the pointed finger was used on many war recruiting posters. "We want you" became and additional meaning to this gesture.

Later in 1911, a beverage company used this technique to advertise their popular drink, Moxie. This gave the pointed finger a commanding meaning.

Now, pointing fingers has many meanings and is used for different things. Such as the cursor on any  computer.

Rays- By Pandora

Rays are one of the most ancient iconic symbols. They are the attributes of gods and heros and were shown radiating around the head of Apollo, or Buddha, or Jesus. Rays were known as a rare optical phenomenon known as an aura, which creates a dazzling cicular rainbow around the person, or object.

Japan, "the Land of the Rising Sun," was the first use of rays in a non-religous view. When they were defeated in World War II they lost the rays and their flag became what it is today.

Mickey gained his rays for his 80th anniversary.

Today rays are used for the same reason, to give the object they are surrounding a godly appeal. Popular media uses it all the time and so does marketing campaigns. These campaigns can be for anything from accenting a price to expressing the idea of "squeaky-clean" on a package of detergent.

Body Type (Team 1)

Body art has been the way to relay messages through centuries. Whether it is body paintings, tattoos, visual puns and, brandings (cutting markings into the flesh). This type of art on the body is used to relay typographic or illustrative messages. This method of conveying messages has been used since the 1960's. Sometimes they are used for commercial advertising but most of the time they are not. Some can be a complete eye catcher and some can be completely tacky. Usually commercial tattoos are the eye catchers and personal body typings are tacky.

This tattoo conveys the message to live life to the fullest. Everybody who is alive is not living. This is simply persuading and reminding people to not let a "life" go to waste.
This tattoo symbolizes to stay true to ones self and promote peace and love. With lies come a whole lot of unecessary negative things in life and with love it promotes a better living experience.

The Book- Chanel Flyers

The Book

Basic College Books

E-Readers
Every book has its own unique design.  However the greatest books are ones with well composed design components such as the book's texture, style of writing, etc.  These are what capture the audience's attention.  Over the evolution of books, past authors have mostly been concerned about the amount of pages they produce with uninterrupted text but did not put their main focus on capturing the audience's full attention. For example the books that an English professor would find interesting would not gain the interest of the students as it composes of mostly words and hardly any pictures or any other graphic designs to keep us reading.
