WHITE SPACE
A completely blank white piece of paper was an art to some, having just as much value as a fully printed piece. An Ultimate luxury as some would call it. The blankness provides an aspect of having plenty of room to spare when working. It was believed an object/picture on white would bring that object/picture out and draw more attention to that one thing.

The white space in this one could mean quite a few things. The person on the right could be a father giving his daughter/son space to be with the person they love. It could represent the gap in generations with the person on right being decidedly older than the 2 on the left.

The white space in the background kind of gives a feel that the white grid goes on indefinitely. The white grid in foreground makes the red ball stand out, kind of like being either the outcast or the “stand alone” thing.

This image, I believe, is just showing that white space can be a very important part of your composition. Allowing people to realize that you don’t have to fill the whole page with something, sometimes what you don’t do speaks louder than what you have already done.
This picture of snow white is set on a white background making it so that her hair draws your attention to her face with the flower and red lipstick and eye shadow. setting this on a white background allows for the little details such as the eyeliner and shadow as well as the lips and the blush to be pulled out of the picture grabbing your attention.
