Monumental Images

Monumental Images
Monumental images serve as tools for perpetrating myths and hero's as well as power and representation. Using sculptures as well as imagery with words to advertise put forth and tell the world a story/belief. Some examples include monumental attractions such as the Statue of Liberty representing freedom and the American way of life, and a Greek God Helios whose statue celebrates Rhodes victory over the ruler of Cyprus.

This image represents Americas strength
on the 11th of September 2001,
that we will not fall but we shall stand strong.
We shall move forward,
for those who we lost,
for ones that we love,
and for our country as a whole.

This image was chosen as a monument in our eyes because
it represents many things such as
faith, eyes, love, heroism, and courage.
in the eyes of September 11th 2001.

This sculpture represents so much to the American life
and how we felt on that day "When the World Stopped Turning"(Alan Jackson).
The angel is representing faith, love, and eyes.
we pray(faith) for those we have lost, and for those who are putting there lives in danger
to help us overcome this devastation. We pray for those who are laying there lives down
in the face of the enemy to fight for what we stand for. For our freedom and our Pride.

The angel represents The eyes of God for
God shall watch over all of those men and women who served and are serving
from the police forces, to the firemen, and to the military personal.
The fire fighter clings to the American flag for he loves his country.
The fire fighter also represents heroism and courage for they are very brave,
and have great courage to run into that falling building to save as many lives as they could.

This image created by: Giuliana Vaccaro  is a monument representing life and death. Symbolizing for every death there is new life born.

From the famous motion picture the lion king,
this image represents the circle of life.
In relation to our first posted picture, for every death a new life is born.
The cycle is never ending.
Everything cycles from the green grass on the ground to the deer and antelope,
to the lions and tigers, and to the humans who walk this land.
Life is a never ending cycle.
Deer eat the grass and new grass grows.
Lions eat the deer while another fawn is growing.
The circle of life is much greater than anything for it is
how we live,
how we survive,
and is what we know as life.
The circle of life is a never ending circle that has a hard time dealing with change.
