Abstraction

Abstractions can be used in many different ways. Some graphic designers use it to express ideas, promote events, or sometimes tell a story. Abstractions prove that you do not have to be visually explicit in order to make yourself understand. Abstractions are used to translate emotions into graphic form.

I chose this picture because of the dramatized shape of the head and features of the face. This isn't what a head looks like in real life. (www.deviantart.com)
This is supposed to be a cat but it drawn with weird blobs of color and abstract shapes. A cat obviously doesn't really look like this. (www.deviantart.com)
This is supposed to be a picture of Frank Sinatra. But he is illustrated with different shapes and colors. As opposed to a real life photograph or portrait. (www.dribble.com)
