Byrne describes the commonly accepted story of artistic creation by basically saying the composer would have some type of urge or a look in their eyes to create a song. Byrnes theory is that we carelessly and naturally make work. african folk music is traditional music that evolved from the 20th century and folk music is rhythmically complex. medieval music is western music which was written during the middle ages and there music was sacred and secular. The audiences of classic music would be quiet because there cant be too much talking going on because you wont be able to hear the people preforming. Audiences for opera versus you could talk a little bit and be able to eat but still need to keep the nose level to a minimum. the audience for the type of music today would be the audience be singing along with the performer. jazz musicians had to use instruments that would keep there dancers happy because they had to make sure that the instruments can be heard over the music. R&B has incorporated some type of jazz into there style of music. classical audiences has changed, Alex Ross contribute to these changes because the audience had to go back to the old ways like no eating, and talking during the show and the way they set up venue was to keep the poor people out. the changes was catchy music so the audiences to listen too and having new instruments would let the audience have a wide choice of music to listen to. Byrne was basically saying that since the radio is now allowing their audience to listen to music on the radio they could listen to all kinds of styles of music as well. the audience doesn't have to listen to the same thing over and over. Crooning exploited the new technology of microphones by allowing artists voice, vocals, or in this case hums, and soft singing to be amplified. Instead of trying to increase the volume of their hums and soft singing which originally compliments the tone, they can now keep the same tone as their sound gets amplified to the audience. Audiences and acoustics differ from each other due to the site in which the music is being performed at. Audiences are a variety of locations. Audiences can be in a crowd at a concert, in a car listening on a radio, or even listening through TV. So the acoustics have to adapt to the site or venue in which the music is being played. Music being performed at arena or a football stadium will sound different from music being played at Carnegie Hall. That’s why music nowadays has different versions such as a radio, live, or mp3 version. According to Byrne, contemporary hip-hop differs from the beginnings of hip-hop because contemporary hip-hop is mainly heard through the sound systems of cars and also because of evolution of hip-hop itself. Car systems provide more bass and increase vocals. Hip-hop has also transitioned into being more “beat” orientated. The beat contributes to the listener’s musical experience.
