Riddles and Rebuses

Riddles and Rebuses

Riddles and Rebuses are the most difficult to understand. They are concealed messages that show symbols, signs, and anything into a graphic speech in their own way that takes the gap between words and images. Take this picture for example. See the bird? the letters "S" and "F"? the number 2? and two words "of" and an incomplete word "gether"?. It's a sophisticated type of visual language. It resembles the meaning "Birds of a feather flock together".

Rebus Screen Print

by Anna DeBoy

Anna DeBoy was asked to design a shirt graphic for a band, "Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros". Although fairly obscure to outside individuals, the graphic is a great representation that makes sense for individuals that already know the group.
