Shadow Play

Shadow Play is images from the 2 dimensional plane entering in the third dimension in the manner of shadows. Its all done by photography and controlling light and shadows by lenses, mirrors, and filters. Take this picture for example. -by Holunder from deviant art.

Shadow play is the use of shadows to create a filled outline of three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional plane. This image is shadow play that has been possibly drawn, but may just be a picture drawn onto the shadow. It even could be just the shadow of a paper cutout of the hand.

This example of shadow play doesn't reflect exactly what its supposed to but this is done on purpose. The drawing shows creative thought because of its diverse characteristics.

This is one of a series, the series is called "Nursery crimes". This is an incredible display of two dimensional objects, giving illusion to three dimensional shape of each object. Though both figures in the frame are arranged in three dimensional space, they are still two dimensional. The shadows created by each, however, give the illusion that both are three dimensional objects.

Another picture symbolizing shadowplay, shadows made by hands to create images, usually animals.
